Racing Incident Report
The excitement of horse racing often comes with its fair share of drama, and the recent race featuring a dozen competitors was no exception. This incident report provides a detailed account of the events that unfolded during the race, highlighting the performances of each horse and the various challenges they faced on the track.
Horse No 1: PATCH OF COSMO (J357)
Ridden by L Ferraris, PATCH OF COSMO had a modest start, jumping only fairly from the gates. As the race progressed, the horse encountered significant difficulties in finding clear running space between NORTHERN FIRE BALL and ETALON OR between the 400 and 150 Metres marks. In a series of unfortunate maneuvers, PATCH OF COSMO shifted out and made contact with ETALON OR multiple times, raising concerns about the horse’s racing conduct. Following the race, PATCH OF COSMO was sent for sampling to ensure compliance with racing regulations.
Horse No 2: SANTORINI (J076)
H Bowman, the jockey for SANTORINI, reported that his mount was able to take the lead without facing any pressure from competitors. However, as the race progressed into the Home Straight, SANTORINI failed to respond to Bowman’s riding efforts, leading to a disappointing performance. Despite the lack of response, a veterinary inspection conducted immediately after the race revealed no significant findings, leaving Bowman puzzled about the horse’s lackluster showing.
Horse No 3: RUN YES RUN (J264)
M Chadwick, riding RUN YES RUN, had anticipated that CIRCUIT JOLLY would move forward to cross SANTORINI, allowing RUN YES RUN to secure a more favorable position. However, when CIRCUIT JOLLY remained outside of SANTORINI, RUN YES RUN was forced to race wide and without cover for the majority of the race. This tactical disadvantage ultimately contributed to RUN YES RUN’s inability to maintain pace in the Home Straight. Like SANTORINI, a post-race veterinary inspection showed no significant issues.
Horse No 4: BABY SATELLITE (J262)
Ridden by A Hamelin, BABY SATELLITE faced challenges right from the start, becoming unbalanced shortly after the jump due to crowding between SMILING EMPEROR and CIRCUIT JOLLY, who shifted out. The horse’s troubles continued as it became reluctant to hold its position inside PATCH OF COSMO, leading to a steadying maneuver when racing tight against that runner.
Horse No 5: CIRCUIT JOLLY (J506)
Z Purton, aboard CIRCUIT JOLLY, experienced a rough start as the horse shifted out and was bumped. The incident did not deter CIRCUIT JOLLY, which continued to compete actively throughout the race, although it faced its own challenges, including jumping a mark on the track near the 170 Metres mark.
Horse No 6: ETALON OR (J273)
A Badel, riding ETALON OR, reported that the horse shifted in at the start and was subsequently bumped on the hindquarters, causing it to become unbalanced. The horse faced further challenges as it was bumped by PATCH OF COSMO on multiple occasions between the 250 and 150 Metres marks. The Stewards considered a potential protest from ETALON OR’s connections regarding the contact made by PATCH OF COSMO, but ultimately decided there were insufficient grounds for an objection, allowing the race results to stand as declared.
Horse No 7: JUNEAU PRIDE (J443)
B Avdulla, riding JUNEAU PRIDE, faced a significant challenge at the start when ETALON OR shifted in and heavily bumped his mount, causing it to become unbalanced. Following the race, JUNEAU PRIDE was also sent for post-race sampling.
Horse No 8: KA YING ATTACK (J391)
M F Poon, aboard KA YING ATTACK, encountered a brief period of difficulty approaching the 250 Metres mark when the horse laid in and was held up behind SANTORINI. This situation hindered KA YING ATTACK’s ability to make a strong move in the final stages of the race.
Horse No 9: NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488)
Y L Chung’s NORTHERN FIRE BALL exhibited fractious behavior in the gates, necessitating removal and examination by the Veterinary Officer before being cleared to race. Despite being passed fit to compete, NORTHERN FIRE BALL raced very wide and without cover for most of the event, which likely impacted its performance. The horse will need to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before racing again, and a warning has been placed on its barrier manners.
Horse No 10: TOP TIME (K006)
K De Melo, riding TOP TIME, faced challenges in the early part of the Home Straight when the horse laid in, making it difficult to ride out effectively. This lack of responsiveness may have affected TOP TIME’s overall performance in the race.
Horse No 11: CASHISCASH (J369)
CASHISCASH, ridden by K Teetan, started from a wide barrier and was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. However, while attempting to settle, CASHISCASH raced keenly and had to be steadied to avoid PATCH OF COSMO, which shifted out slightly. This maneuvering may have contributed to the horse’s overall performance in the race.
Horse No 12: SMILING EMPEROR (J371)
H Bentley, riding SMILING EMPEROR, experienced a bump shortly after the start, which may have affected the horse’s early positioning and overall race strategy. The impact of this incident on SMILING EMPEROR’s performance is worth noting, as it reflects the unpredictable nature of racing.
This incident report encapsulates the various challenges and incidents that occurred during the race, providing insights into the performances of each horse and the decisions made by their jockeys. The complexities of horse racing often lead to unexpected outcomes, and this race was no different, showcasing the thrilling yet unpredictable nature of the sport.
